Your files, on your devices. No one in between.

peerbox keeps a folder in sync directly between your own computers. No cloud copy, no account, no monthly bill.

Mac: Apple Silicon (M1 or newer), with one extra step on first launch. Linux: .deb or AppImage. Windows: build from source.

Set up in two minutes.

  1. Create your drive

Pick a folder. peerbox gives you a 12-word recovery phrase. It’s the only credential you’ll ever need.

  2. Link your other devices

Install peerbox on each computer and paste in the drive key from your first one. No sign-up, email or password.

  3. Files just sync

Whenever two of your devices are online, they find each other and sync. Offline changes catch up when they reconnect.

Only your devices can read your files.

Encrypted in transit

Every connection between your devices is encrypted with the Noise protocol. Nobody on the network can read what’s sent, including us.

Keys stay on your devices

Keys are created and kept on your own machines. There’s no server to upload them to.

No tracking

No analytics and nothing phoning home. The app has no server to report to.

Open source, top to bottom.

peerbox is licensed under the GPL, and every library it depends on is open source too: Hypercore and Hyperswarm for sync, Tauri for the desktop app. Read the code, build it yourself, or run the headless version on a Raspberry Pi.

If peerbox disappeared tomorrow, your sync would keep working.
